Youth Swimming Lessons
The facility will offer a wide range of weekday and weekend lessons options to accommodate a range of schedules and needs. Classes are structured in small group (3-4), semi-private or private. This allows for focused attention and the ability to adapt to swimmer needs and provide progressive advancement when appropriate. Learning to swim at a young age equips kids with essential life-saving skills, reducing the risk of drowning, especially important on the Door Peninsula. Lessons promote cardiovascular health, muscle development, and coordination through low-impact exercise. Beyond physical benefits, swimming builds self-esteem and social skills in a fun, supportive environment. By mastering water safety and swimming techniques early, youths gain lifelong skills that encourage a healthy, active lifestyle.
Stroke Development and Coaching
The use of the Endless Pool current technology and pool size make it ideal for those interested in developing their stroke, strength and efficiency in the pool. The facility will offer access to coaches who can assess stroke form and technique and provide access to training plans for continued improvement. Stroke development and training techniques enhance efficiency, speed, and endurance in the water. Through targeted drills and coaching, swimmers improve their form in strokes like freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly, optimizing body position, breathing, and propulsion. This training builds muscle strength, coordination, and cardiovascular fitness while reducing drag and energy waste. For competitive swimmers, stroke development sharpens race performance, while recreational swimmers benefit from improved confidence and fluidity, making swimming more enjoyable and effective as a full-body workout.
Aquatic Therapy
Aquatic therapy, also known as hydrotherapy, involves performing exercises in water to promote physical rehabilitation and overall wellness. Conducted in a warm, low-impact environment, it reduces stress on joints and muscles, making it ideal for individuals with arthritis, chronic pain, or mobility issues. The water’s buoyancy supports body weight, enhancing movement and flexibility while minimizing injury risk. Additionally, aquatic therapy improves cardiovascular health, muscle strength, and mental well-being through relaxation and gentle resistance, offering a holistic approach to healing and fitness. The combination of aquatic therapy with resistance currents and treadmills enhances the quality and accessibility of resources to support healing.
Sauna and Swim Memberships
In addition to swimming lessons and programmed services, the Peninsula Aquatics Center will offer annual and semi-annual memberships for use of the sauna and pools during non-programmed times.
